Drug wars exist only nominally to stop the illegal business of narcotics. In reality, they function as tools of social control. A counter-insurgency, making sure that nobody stops the flow of money. Not even democracy.

Today's Reflections

Today I was thinking about how the drug war functions as a permanent counter-insurgency operation. The parallels between military tactics in Vietnam and the current approach to the "war on drugs" are striking.
